Share This!©Rikki NiblettSo, in my earlier article today, I mentioned how Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show was closing, as well as a few other things on the Streets of America. At the time, I was unaware of what would be removed, but according to the Orlando Sentinel, it’s actually quite a list of attractions that will no longer be available for Guests to experience beginning April 2.In addition to the stunt show, the Earful Tower, a staple and icon for the park, will be removed. (Though no official dates has been announced for the removal of the park’s landmark.)Other attractions that are closing on April 2 will be the Honey I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure (which needed to go, a minimum of 10 years ago) and the Monsters Inc. meet and greet. Also slated to close will be the Studios Catering Co., a counter service restaurant found in the back of the park.Again, as I mentioned before, I am sure that more news will be coming out here soon about other closures and removals as we move toward expansion of the park, so I’ll make sure to keep you posted!
Share This! One of my favorite little exhibits to pop into along my walk through World Showcase at Epcot is the Stave Church found in the Norway Pavilion. Many people don’t even know you can go inside, thinking this beautiful building is just decoration. But those who think to tug on the door are welcomed by a delightful exhibit that shows off Norway’s culture! The previous exhibit was all about Frozen and how the country of Norway inspired the film, but now, beginning today, there’s a brand new exhibit for Guests to experience and learn from.“Gods of the Vikings” celebrates the legendary Norse gods and goddesses that inspired the ancient Vikings of Scandinavia in their daily lives. Here in this exhibit, Guests can stop in to learn more about the popular Viking gods Thor, Odin, Freyja, and Loki through displays of authentic Viking artifacts.Through this exhibit, Guests will be able to discover how Norse mythology helped the Vikings live their lives and understand the world around them. These types of exhibits are what help to make World Showcase so special, and I hope that you make sure on your next visit to open the wooden door of the Stave Church and learn more about the culture of Norway.
It’s 3 p.m. on Friday and your boss has already told you that you can head out early for the weekend. You’re wrapping up a few items and planning to leave shortly when a coworker comes to you and asks you for some help with a project they’ve been working on. Your first instinct is to say you’re sorry but you have plans and need to leave early for the weekend. While that may get you a few extra minutes of weekend sunshine, you could be missing out on some valuable work experiences.Young professionals who are early in their career should act like sponges, soaking up any and all experiences they can. Saying “yes” to extra projects will help you get exposure to new things, make it easier to meet new people and allow for you to learn new ways to work with others. 1. Exposure to new things: Oftentimes, we avoid projects that involve things that we aren’t familiar with because it makes us feel vulnerable. The problem with never expanding into new things is that we limit ourselves to specific tasks and/or functions. This might be ok if you know from day 1 that you want to specialize in a specific function but if you aren’t sure what path to take or what function is right for you, it makes sense to gain exposure to a number of different things. On the other hand, when requesting to learn about and get involved in different things, make sure you aren’t spreading yourself too thin. You may have heard the expression “Jack of all trades, master of none.” That is to say that someone is able to perform a whole host of duties or responsibilities but when it comes to identifying the expert in something, we go to someone else. Once you have identified your path, start being more selective in the projects you request to be a part of. 2. Meet new people: Taking on new projects allows for us to meet and network with new coworkers. Networking with new people allows for us to build our contacts within the organization. When you work with someone from another department or from elsewhere within your department, you have opened a door which may lead to quicker response times when requesting information from them or their department. Also, networking internally may create a positive impact on our external connections. 3. Learn new ways to work with others: When we work with team members on a regular basis, we recognize the optimal ways to communicate with them. Working with new people can help us remain flexible in our approaches. It could be that your current team functions simply utilizing email communications to collaborate on projects. If that is the case, try to seek out teams that use telephone or video conferencing to help you develop new ways of getting your point and feedback across.

It’s one of those giant events with more tracks than you could ever attend. There will be more vendors than you could ever learn about in two days. You need bearings for this one. There will be lots of news but the undercurrent is often where the most valuable information flows. Here are some thoughts we’d like to share to help you get the most out of Dreamforce or any other event that you attend. We’ve also added a few suggestions from Paul Young, who works for CommVault Systems. Young wrote a post on the Salesforce.com blog today. His insights had us chuckling a bit.10 tips:1. Pre-event research. Our own Marshall Kirkpatrick wrote a great post about covering the Techonomy conference earlier this year. Marshall used Mechanical Turk to learn more about attendees. He found the most relevant sources that related to the event and created a custom search engine. He has a number of good insights into creating a workflow for covering an event.2. Research – the simple version. Set up a number of automatic searches through Twitter. There are the obvious ones to follow such as #df10, #dreamforce and #salesforce.com. But what is it you really want to follow? Create a series of custom searches to get your head around what the vibe is for the event. 3. Talk to a reporter or analyst. We don’t bite. Say hello at the conference. We are responsible for knowing the pulse of what is happening. Plus, we will remember you if you ever approach us for coverage.4. Write a blog post. Write down what you want to get out of the conference. Writing always helps give us a feeling for what to expect from an event like Dreamforce. You’ll find yourself researching, finding little bits of news that are of interest to you and your work. It gets even better when you share what you’ve learned on your blog. You’ll be surprised what connections you make.5. Go to a news conference. Try to get into an event where executives are presenting to the media and analysts. You’ll see reporters from The Wall Street Journal and bloggers like Klint Finley and me. You will get a perspective from executives that you would not get otherwise. Some suggestions from Paul Young:6. Mingle. Even if you’re an introvert and still live in your mother’s basement, force yourself to meet and greet. This is the premier networking event of the year. Use it.7. Set priorities. Make a list of the vendors you most want to see — and the questions you want to ask them — before you get to Dreamforce. Once the wall of noise and people hits you, your cognitive ability will fall off a cliff.8. Play exhibitor lotto. Enter every contest you can. The number of prizes is staggering. This is your chance to win some serious loot.9. Go to the keynotes. That’s where they always announce amazing things and that’s part of the whole Dreamforce gestalt. Just remember to use the restroom first – it can take longer than you imagine to get through the mass of humanity after each keynote ends. Trust me on this one.10. Be friendly and smile. It’s going to be LOUD and crowded and tiring — but be nice to everyone. That includes VPs, security guards, vendors, other attendees, and the people you see in restaurants and on the town. This is San Francisco. Enjoy yourself. And as Young says, have fun and stop me for a business card! Related Posts 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market
Tags:#hack#news The accelerated Firefox release cycle may be great for many users, but enterprise IT folks were not thrilled. To their credit, the folks at Mozilla eventually took the complaints seriously and founded a working group to address enterprise desktop needs. However, it seems clear that the Extended Support Releases (ESRs) will be second-class citizens. The working group has made progress and come up with a proposal that would provide an ESR for Firefox. If it’s accepted, ESR’s will have life cycle of nearly one year, and a 12 week overlap between the ESR releases. The current assumption is that the first ESR would be Firefox 8 or 9, and Mozilla would commit to backporting “critical” and “high” level security bugs. Security issues with lesser severity would be included “at Mozilla’s discretion.” The ESRs would have their own update channel, and point releases for the ESR would follow the Firefox six-week cycle. Anybody can use the ESRs, but Mozilla doesn’t plan to go out of its way to advertise them to consumers. According to the proposal, “the ESR will not be marketed through Mozilla.com properties other than the Enterprise wiki page and/or staging servers.” Firefox 3.6, which is still seeing updates, would stop seeing updates 12 weeks after the introduction of the first ESR. Risks and CaveatsNote that this applies only to Firefox on the desktop, so mobile users are not going to see any changes. Mozilla also warns that the ESR won’t get the same kind of widespread testing that its nightly and beta groups provide, since it would be a different channel. How to Write a Welcome Email to New Employees? Growing Phone Scams: 5 Tips To Avoid Related Posts joe brockmeier 1 Even though Mozilla will be issuing some security updates for the ESRs, it warns that ESRs will be “less secure” than the stock Firefox. New features that make Firefox more secure won’t be backported, and “only high-risk/impact security patches will be backported.” The working group also notes that maintaining an ESR will “consume resources” that might impact the regular release of other products. Grudging SupportOne one hand, you have to give Mozilla credit for trying to address enterprise problems. However, it’s clear that Mozilla isn’t focused on the enterprise and it’s arguable that enterprise demands are a distraction. Mozilla is a project trying to meet the needs of hundreds of millions of “regular” users. Enterprises that want rigorous testing and long product life cycles typically have to pay for the privilege, even when you’re talking about open source software. But the effort required to support enterprises or other large organizations that demand longer product lifecycles is disproportionate to the benefit that Mozilla will derive from offering the ESRs. Accordingly, the ESR looks like it’s a half-hearted attempt at addressing criticism rather than full-on attacking a problem as Mozilla does with mainstream Firefox. I’m not saying that Mozilla won’t make a best-effort attempt to deliver what it’s promising with the ESRs. However, ESR releases would clearly be second-class citizens. Love or loathe Internet Explorer, enterprise users and consumers get the same product. That won’t be the case with Firefox ESRs. Mozilla seems to be between a rock and a hard place here. Unlike Microsoft and Google, there’s little upside for Mozilla in engaging enterprises. There’s no set of enterprise products for Mozilla to sell to large and slow-moving organizations, but it faces added costs and development burden to be dealt with to keep enterprises happy. Ceding the enterprise desktop to Microsoft, however, weakens Mozilla elsewhere. Perhaps Mozilla should consider a Red Hat-like model for its enterprise channels? Even a token subscription fee would at least demonstrate that organizations are serious about supporting Mozilla in exchange for addressing their specific needs. What do you think? Is the ESR proposal a reasonable solution, or should Mozilla be trying a different approach with this audience? Why You Love Online Quizzes 7 Types of Video that will Make a Massive Impac…

First off in [sic] would like to thank everyone who has believed in me throughout this process. I want to thank my family, friends, coaches and teammates for their much needed support. I want to thank the college coahces who have invested their time and given me the opportunity to play for their schools. After much discussion with my family, I would like to further my academic and athletic career and commit to The University of Arkansas. WooPig!!! #UnCommon17Brown’s decision was foreshadowed by fellow Arkansas commit Koilan Jackson, a three-star wide receiver, who tweeted the decision a few minutes before it became official. My Boy @yvngsimba3 finally a HOG now Congrats on the commitment dude! Welcome to the Family— Koilan Jackson™ (@KoilanJack3) July 28, 2016In addition to being the No. 1 recruit in Arkansas, 247Sports ranks Montaric Brown as the nation’s No. 18 safety.Brown chose Arkansas over Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, LSU, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and others. With Brown’s decision, Arkansas now has 18 players in the 2017 class. He is the second safety and fourth defensive back to join Arkansas’ class.Keeping top players in state is vital for any team, especially Arkansas. Unlike other SEC programs, the Razorbacks don’t have a ton of elite players in their backyard, so hanging on to a guy like Brown is essential. Bret Bielema and the Hogs have landed four of the top 20 recruits out of Arkansas.
OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will champion gender equality and other global issues at a star-studded music festival before continuing the conversation with world leaders at the G20 summit in Germany next month. The concert organized by Global Citizen, an international advocacy group, follows a similar festival Trudeau co-hosted in Montreal last year, which was aimed at raising awareness about the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.“The issues we face globally — climate change, poverty, and disease — disproportionately affect women and girls,” Trudeau said in a news release announcing his participation in the July 6 concert at the Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany on the eve of the G20 summit.“Their voices and experiences must be at the centre of our efforts if we are to find real and lasting solutions. We must keep pushing ourselves to go further and faster on the road to gender equality,” he said. “This is the message I’ll bring with me to Hamburg.”The music festival is meant as a show of thanks to people who have participated in a campaign to pressure world leaders to deliver on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which are aimed at ending extreme poverty, inequality and fighting climate change by 2030.The campaign is also urging leaders to keep those goals in mind as they gather for the G20 meeting, which gets underway in Hamburg the next day. Those who took part in the campaign were entered into a draw to win free tickets to the festival, which will also be livestreamed on YouTube.Trudeau is not expected to sing, but the concert will feature musical performances by Coldplay, with special guest Shakira, as well as Pharrell Williams and Ellie Goulding. Singer Demi Lovato will be a special guest presenter.Celebrities more familiar to German audiences — including Herbert Gronemeyer, Andreas Bourani, Florian David Fitz, Elyas M’Barek, Hadnet Tesfai, Nikeata Thompson and Wana Limar — are either performing or presenting at the festival too.Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and Argentine President Mauricio Macri are joining Trudeau at the concert too.“The festival will send a clear signal to the world’s most powerful leaders that now, more than ever, we must work together to pursue a fair and sustainable development, investing in education, empowering women, and ending poverty in all its forms,” Macri, who will chair the G20 summit next year, said in the release.“The billions of citizens whom we collectively represent expect nothing less from us.”The Liberal government unveiled its new feminist development policy earlier this month, which reallocates $150 million of the existing international aid budget to women’s organizations in 30 countries over the next five years. It made no new spending commitments, however, despite numerous calls by international agencies to do so.
